Any pianist who plays in a contemporary church setting is familiar with Mark Hayes. His books of piano arrangements have a long history, and Mark is also a versatile arranger for choir, and other areas.I have quite an extensive classical and sacred piano background; but my one (admitted) weakness is jazz. This book is fabulous. The arrangmeents are all of familiar numbers, and particularly ones that lend themselves well to jazz interpretations.Admittedly, the books is challenging.I'd put it somewhere between Medium Difficulty, and Advanced.Someone with more of a jazz background might pick it up more easily.I have to work hard at learning the jazz rhythms, and the jazz chord progressions. But the end result is a very valuable book of wonderful arrangements.
